Last updated: 19 October 2026. This notice explains how Footgel SA handles personal information when you visit footgel.co.za, shop with us or contact us.
1. Who we are and how to contact us
Footgel SA operates this South African online store. For privacy questions and requests, email info@footgel.co.za, marked “Privacy request”. Our address is 204 Bengal Street, Laudium, Pretoria, Centurion, Gauteng, South Africa, 0037.
2. Information we collect
When you place an order, create an account, contact us or request a return, we collect the information you provide, such as your name, email address, telephone number, billing and delivery addresses, order details, payment references and correspondence. Technical systems may also record IP addresses, browser and device details, session information and security logs.
Information is obtained directly from you, through your use of the website and, where necessary, from payment or delivery records relating to your order. Required checkout information is needed to process and deliver your order; without it we may be unable to fulfil the purchase. Optional information need not be provided. Please do not send unnecessary medical records, identity documents or sensitive personal information.
3. Why we use personal information
We use information to process and fulfil orders, arrange deliveries, confirm EFT payments, provide support, manage accounts and returns, prevent fraud, secure the website and comply with legal obligations. Depending on the purpose, processing is based on performance of a purchase contract, legal obligations, legitimate interests where permitted by law, or consent where required. We do not use a purchase as blanket consent for unrelated marketing.
4. Payments and delivery
Our current payment options are cash on delivery and EFT. For EFT, customers request banking details from info@footgel.co.za and use their order number as the payment reference. We process relevant payment confirmations and transaction records to reconcile payments. Do not email card details, PINs, banking passwords or one-time passwords to us.
We share the order, recipient, contact and address information needed to arrange and fulfil delivery with our delivery service providers, including Bob Go and the courier handling the shipment where used. Information may also be shared as necessary to investigate delivery problems and process returns. WalletDoc is not currently an active checkout payment option.
5. Service providers and disclosures
The store uses WordPress and WooCommerce. Hosting, email, website maintenance, security and other necessary service providers may process relevant information on our behalf. Authorised personnel and service providers receive access only as needed for their work, subject to applicable confidentiality, security and data-protection requirements. We may also disclose information where required by law or necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal rights.
Some service providers may process information outside South Africa. Where this occurs, transfers must comply with applicable POPIA requirements, including appropriate protection or another lawful basis. You may contact us for information about service providers relevant to your personal information.
6. Cookies, reviews and external content
The website uses cookies and similar storage for functions such as your shopping basket, checkout session, login and security. Browser settings allow you to manage or delete cookies; blocking necessary storage may affect shopping or account functions.
If you submit a public product review or comment, its content and displayed name may be visible to others. Avoid including private contact details or sensitive information. External links and embedded content, where present, may be operated by third parties under their own privacy notices.
7. Analytics and marketing
Google Analytics, Meta Pixel and email marketing campaigns have not been set up for this store as at the date above. We will update this notice and implement any required consent and preference controls before introducing those services. Electronic direct marketing will be conducted only where permitted by law, with a way to unsubscribe. Necessary order and service messages are separate from promotional messages.
8. Retention and security
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably required for the purpose collected, legal recordkeeping, unresolved disputes and legitimate operational requirements. When retention is no longer justified, information is deleted, de-identified or otherwise handled as required by law. Some records may need to be retained after an account-deletion request to meet legal obligations.
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information from unauthorised access, loss or misuse. No internet service can guarantee absolute security. Security compromises will be addressed and reported to affected people and the Information Regulator where required by law.
9. Your privacy rights
Subject to applicable law and appropriate identity verification, you may request confirmation of whether we hold your personal information, access to it, correction of inaccurate information, or deletion where we are no longer entitled to retain it. You may object to qualifying processing, withdraw consent for future consent-based processing and unsubscribe from marketing. Withdrawing consent does not invalidate earlier lawful processing.
Send requests to info@footgel.co.za. We will explain any identification, prescribed procedure or lawful fee that applies; please do not send unnecessary identity documents with your initial request.
You may lodge a complaint with the South African Information Regulator. Its current complaints process is available at inforegulator.org.za/complaints/.
10. Changes to this notice
We will update this notice when our services or processing practices change. The date at the top identifies the latest published version. Contact info@footgel.co.za if you have questions.
